2022 was an incredible year for Netflix, but 2023 has been an even better year! This year has been filled with many new Netflix shows and the return of some popular series. Throughout 2023, the streaming giant has announced the official release dates for tons of its shows, and we can’t wait to see which ones wrap up the year now that we’re approaching its end.

There are still many more shows confirmed or expected to come out in 2023. Now, get ready to be pumped because the Netflix shows lineup for 2023 is out of this world! Of course, we had to start with the highly anticipated anime series, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off

One of the highly anticipated releases of 2023 would have to be Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. It’s an anime adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s hit Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series, and it’s coming to Netflix on Friday, Nov. 17, 2023.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is an upcoming animated series developed, written, and executive produced by Bryan Lee O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski. They’re also co-showrunners on the series. Marc Platt, Jared LeBoff, Adam Siegel, Michael Bacall, Edgar Wright, Nira Park, and  Eunyoung Choi are also signed on as executive producers.

In addition, Science SARU, the animation studio behind the anime series DEVILMAN crybaby, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! and The Heike Story, is the animation house for this animated series.

This isn’t the first time O’Malley’s graphic novels have been adapted. The graphic novel series was previously adapted into the 2010 live-action film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. The entire live-action movie’s cast returns to reprise their roles in the animated series. The voice cast includes Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Satya Bhabha, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Brie Larson, Alison Pill, Aubrey Plaza, and many others.

The eight-episode first season follows Scott Pilgrim, a 23-year-old musician who after meeting the girl of his dreams, finds himself having to defeat all seven of her evil exes in order to date her. This won’t be an easy task, but Scott is determined.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off isn’t a show you want to miss out on, so make sure to add it to your watchlist.
