On April 27, Netflix dropped the highly anticipated second season of Sweet Tooth, and fans couldn’t wait to feast their eyes on the new episodes. Many people have already binged their way through the entire season and are wondering if there will be a third installment. If you’re one of those people, you’ve arrived at the right place because we shared everything we know about a potential Sweet Tooth season 3 right below.

UPDATE 5/3/2023: Netflix has renewed Sweet Tooth for a third and final season! The streamer says the season has already been filmed and we can expect it to be released in 2024.

See original story below.

We had thought the first season was great, but Sweet Tooth season 2 was even better! While Gus and the other hybrids are imprisoned at the Preserve by the villainous General Abbot and his army of hybrid-hating mercenaries, Jepperd and Aimee form an alliance to break the hybrids free. Meanwhile, Dr. Singh works hard to produce a cure while being held captive at the Preserve along with his wife Rani.

This season becomes more and more intense as the episodes go on, but the explosive season finale is what left our jaws dropped. We absolutely must see a new season of this fantasy series! But will there actually be a Sweet Tooth season 3? Here’s what we know.

Is Sweet Tooth season 3 happening?

It’s unknown at the moment. As of April 27, Netflix has not renewed the show for a third season. While Netflix sometimes hands out early renewals to its older shows, sadly, this didn’t happen with Sweet Tooth. But no one should be worrying, though. The streamer doesn’t always renew its shows early.

We’re probably looking at a month or so wait before Netflix announces its plans for the fantasy series because the streamer needs time to see where the viewing hours fall. Netflix typically looks at how many people watch a show in its first month on the platform to help come to a decision. If Sweet Tooth manages to acquire high viewing hours for its second season within its first month on the platform, Netflix might just give the go-ahead for a Sweet Tooth season 3. But remember, completion rates are also important. The entire eight-episode second season must be watched in order for it to count.

With how the second season ended, there’s definitely more story that can be told in a third season. We just need Netflix to give the green light.

But remember what we said about Sweet Tooth not receiving an early season 3 renewal? Well, there’s a rumor going around that the fantasy series has already been renewed for a third season. However, we’ll have to take this rumor with a grain of salt because Netflix has not officially announced that the show has been renewed or confirmed this rumor.

In the meantime, make sure to tell everyone you know about Sweet Tooth season 2. This will better the chances of the show being renewed for a third season.

We’ll keep you updated on the show’s renewal status!
