Kate and Tully are finally back in our lives with the return of Firefly Lane season 2 and the show’s final seven episodes. But they’re not the only characters worth paying attention to on a show filled with a talented supporting cast. Netflix Life had the opportunity to speak with actress Kyra Leroux, who plays Lisa-Karen during the 1970s, where we see teen Kate and Tully interact with their peers.

Kyra Leroux is a talented young performer best known for playing Britta Beach in Riverdale and recurring in the first season of the Apple TV+ series Schmigadoon. She’s also appeared in other Netflix shows like Brand New Cherry Flavor and Julie and the Phantoms.

Chatting with Firefly Lane season 2 star Kyra Leroux

We chatted with Kyra about what it was like playing a character in the 1970s, what to expect from Lisa-Karen’s storyline this season, and more!

Netflix Life: What is it like for you to play a character living in the 1970s?

Kyra Leroux: Oh my gosh, I love it so much. In my actual life, I dress like I’m in the 70s almost every day. I love vintage clothes. I go thrifting all the time. Pretty much all of my clothes are vintage or thrifted.

Period pieces, for me, are like where my heart lives, so being in a show set in the 70s was so much fun. Even our ridiculous haircuts and the homemade sweater vests, it’s just so much fun. I think our costume designers and the whole crew on Firefly Lane just do such a good job of bringing you into that world, and you really feel like you’re in that era even when we’re filming.

What was your experience working with Roan Curtis and Ali Skovbye?

Ali and Roan are awesome. We’re great friends in real life. Ali actually just came and visited me in New York, and we went for brunch. We talk all the time. They immediately accepted me into their little group, their show, and it was wonderful. We would eat lunch together every day on set. We really were the classic blonde-redhead-brunette trio—nothing like in the show where we’re competing for each other’s attention.

We don’t get to meet Lisa Karen in the future timelines, but have you ever thought about what actress you would want to play her?

Oh, that’s a good question! I feel like there aren’t a lot of redheaded actresses around that age. If I had my absolute dream person, I’d probably say Jessica Chastain, but that’s a little bit far-fetched.

Maybe Amy Adams?

Oh, Amy Adams, too, that would be awesome.

I know that you also worked on Riverdale, what has it been like to see the show ending?

It’s crazy that after seven seasons this is the last one. It’s sad for the crew and everything. Everyone is such a family on that show. I wasn’t in the last season as much as the previous seasons, but knowing the whole crew and how close everyone is, it’s a bittersweet thing for sure. Seven years is amazing for a show. Not many shows go for that long.

Especially nowadays.

Exactly.

To wrap up, what can you tease about what to expect from Lisa Karen’s storyline in the final batch of episodes?

All I can say is that Lisa-Karen’s story goes in a very unexpected direction and I can’t wait for everyone to see where it goes!

All episodes of Firefly Lane season 2 are now streaming on Netflix.
