When is Heartland season 15 on Netflix US? (and 5 shows to watch while you wait)

Heartland is one of the most popular western TV shows on Netflix. There are currently 14 seasons of Heartland streaming on Netflix US, but unfortunately, Heartland season 15 is not available to stream right now. But that’s going to change in May 2023!

Heartland season 15 premiered on CBC on Oct. 17, 2021. Under normal circumstances, the season would be added to Netflix US within a year after the season premiere. That’s when the rest of the world gets to watch Heartland on Netflix. Unfortunately, that’s not the case for viewers in the US.

Why isn’t Heartland season 15 on Netflix yet?

According to Horsey Hooves, Heartland season 15 isn’t on Netflix in the United States because UPTV licensed the rights to the season and all the episodes must air on the channel before they can move to Netflix.

The good news is that deal might be done soon, and Heartland season 15 episodes could be added to Netflix US soon. What’s on Netflix reports Heartland season 15 could come to Netflix after the UPTV deal is done.

Heartland season 15 is coming to Netflix in May 2023

On April 26, Netflix announced the complete list of new release movies and shows coming in May 2023, which included Heartland season 15. Fans of the series will be excited to learn that season 15 will be released on Netflix on Wednesday, May 31.

While it was previously predicted to arrive in March or April, fans will have to wait a little bit longer to binge-watch season 15. But just before summer is the perfect time to dive back into Heartland. Of course, we’ll next have to wait to find out when season 16 will arrive on Netflix and if the series has been renewed for season 17.

When is Heartland season 16 on Netflix?

Heartland season 16 already happened, but it’s not coming to Netflix for a long time for the same reason that season 15 has not been added to Netflix. UPTV has the rights to the new season, which premiered on CBC on Oct. 2, 2022, and just came to an end on Feb. 5, 2023.

The earliest we’d see the season on Netflix US would be about a year after UPTV’s deal for the season ended. At this point, that looks to be sometime in late 2024, but it could be earlier if things go well.

Netflix shows to watch if you like Heartland

The other good news is that Netflix has a bunch of shows you need to watch if you’re a fan of Heartland. Check out these good Netflix shows while you wait for Heartland season 15 and season 16.

1. Virgin River

Virgin River is the best soapy, romantic drama on Netflix. Alexandra Breckenridge stars as Mel Monroe, a nurse who leaves the big city for the small, rural town of Virgin River. There, she finds love, peace, and acceptance, but will it last? There are four seasons of Virgin River on Netflix now, and season 5 is coming soon.

2. Sweet Magnolias

Are there horses in Sweet Magnolias? I can’t remember, but there are family-friendly vibes, and that’s the most important thing. If you’re into small-town drama like Heartland, Sweet Magnolias has all the southern charm you could ask for.

3. The Ranch

The Ranch is probably the most similar to Heartland, but it’s quite a bit darker. It’s also a sitcom, which might throw fans of Heartland, but it’s definitely worth a watch or two. The series stars Ashton Kutcher, Sam Elliott, Debra Winger, Dax Shepard, and Elisha Cuthbert.

4. Firefly Lane

Firefly Lane stars Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke, and it tells the story of their characters’ friendship over several decades.  There are two seasons of Firefly Lane on Netflix, and the final episodes are coming to the streaming service on April 27, 2023.

5. Longmire

If you’d like to see a darker version of Heartland, Longmire might be the show for you. The series tells the story of Sheriff Walt Longmire as he solves various mysteries in Wyoming. There’s a lot of heart in this series, and although it’s not the same genre as Heartland, I think fans will enjoy it.
