Welcome to Eden season 2, episode 8 recap: First Contact
The season finale opens with guards taking Zoa and Bel away while Astrid, Isaac, Alma, Nuria, and Joel watch. Zoa and Bel believe that Eva is the person who ratted them out. Once Astrid and Isaac get in a dune buggy and drive away from Nuria’s module, Joel kills Nuria by shooting her in the head with a gun. Back in the outside world, Brisa enlists the help of some colleagues to find Zoa and the rest of the kids at Eden.
On the island, Astrid and Issac arrive back at the apartment and see Erick waiting for them. Erick apologizes to Astrid, and they get back together. Erick then goes to break things off with Africa. After Erick leaves, Charly comes out of hiding to speak to Africa, but they’re unable to finish their conversation because she throws up.
Meanwhile, the guards have set up tents on the island where they’re keeping Zoa and Bel. Astrid tries to get Zoa and Bel to turn on each other but to no avail. Eva has risen up the ranks and is now a part of Joel’s team. She tries to apologize to Bel, but Bel wants nothing to do with her. Bel confronts Eva about ratting her and Zoa out, but Eva tells her she didn’t do it. When Astrid brings Gabi to see Zoa, Astrid tells Zoa that Gabi is the one who told her about their plan. Zoa also finds out Gabi is now an Eden Foundation member. Zoa was so desperate to join the Eden Foundation that she told on her sister to get back in Astrid’s good graces.
In the medical building, Africa takes a pregnancy test in the restroom while Charly and Mayka wait for her to come out. But as other Eden Foundation members begin to gather outside, Charly and Mayka leave Africa to see what’s going on. Astrid and Erick tell the members that Zoa and Bel are the people who killed Ulises and that they will be taken away by the authorities soon. But Charly knows this won’t happen. He knows that Zoa and Bel will be killed. The meeting then ends.
With the news that Zoa and Bel will be executed, Charly looks for a gun to kill Astrid and Erick. However, Mayka seemingly convinces him not to do it. Later that day, Africa finds out she’s pregnant with Erick’s child.
We also discover that Som isn’t as innocent as she seems because she and Danae have been working together all along. They both work for Som’s father, and Danae is the person who killed Astrid’s dad. After killing Astrid’s father, Danae took the SIM card with information about New Eden from his phone and implanted it into Som. Danae meets with Som on the island and takes the SIM card out. Som then tells Danae that “tomorrow’s the big day.”
The next day, Astrid, Erick, and the higher-level members prepare Zoa and Bel to be executed. Gabi finds where the execution is happening and tries to stop it. Meanwhile, Danae finds the transmitter room in Astrid and Erick’s apartment. Danae inserts the SIM card into one of the consoles, and it activates the antenna.
Gabi begs Astrid to pardon Zoa and not kill her. Astrid listens to Gabi and lets Zoa go, but not Bel. However, Zoa refuses to let Bel be killed and is willing to die with her if they don’t let her go as well. Astrid doesn’t let this happen and orders their execution again. But just as Alma prepares to shoot Bel with the nail gun, a helicopter is seen approaching them. Alma immediately stops what she’s doing, and everyone looks at the helicopter. The people in the helicopter are Brisa and her colleagues.
Back in the transmitter room, a message saying “Hello, Eden” pops up on one of the consoles suggesting that there’s contact with the New Eden. Then, the elevator opens and Isaac walks out. The season finale ends with the helicopter landing where Astrid and everyone else is and Brisa and Co stepping out. Gabi tells Zoa that she knows Brisa and that she’s there to rescue them. Zoa smiles at her sister, and then the episode cuts to the credits.
