Welcome to Eden season 2, episode 6 recap: Beyond the Stars
The rebellion executes the next part of their plan to steal some of the explosives they saw Joel and Danae smuggling onto the island. Ibon is sent to grab the explosives while Zoa starts a fire in a nearby cave to distract the guards. Elsewhere, Eva, Eloy, and Bel sneak into the volcano crater to look around Isaac’s old module for more clues about who he is and where he came from. They meet Nuria, who tells them the truth: Isaac is her and Erick’s biological son. Astrid is infertile.
In the modules, things heat up between Ibon, Orson, and Eloy, who have a threesome. Alma realizes that she’s lost Ibon for good and spends her night crying in bed. In another module, Mayka and Charly kiss, but she breaks things off with him after they almost get caught together.
Charly, in turn, breaks up with Som, telling her he’s in love with another girl. He tries to do it quietly so Gabi doesn’t overhear, but she does anyway. The next day, Gabi tells Astrid that Charly dumped Som, so Astrid gives the green light to her guy on the mainland, Leon, to kill Charly’s brother, Luis. Ugh, Gabi.
The good news is that Brisa happens to be at Luis’s house discussing Charly’s disappearance when Leon breaks in and tries to assassinate him. A gunfight ensues between Leon and Brisa. Luis and his son are safe, for now. Brisa chases Leon out of the house into a nearby tunnel. They both get shot, but it looks like Leon’s wound is fatal, while Brisa will recover. As he dies, Leon tells Brisa that Eden is on a private island. She pleads with him to tell her how to get there so she can save everyone.
Erick and Astrid’s relationship has soured, possibly to the point of no return. Africa takes Erick into the transmission room while Astrid is out to show him that she’s been lying. No one has responded to their signals. Erick is pissed and says as much to Astrid. This all comes to a head right before another big ceremony Astrid is planning, where she intends to introduce Isaac to everyone as their guide to New Eden.
Erick refuses to attend, and Astrid tells Isaac to choose whether to stay behind with him or go to the gathering with her. Isaac chooses Astrid. Erick and Africa have sex while everyone is on the beach. Erick doesn’t even bother trying to keep his and Africa’s affair secret. They’re sleeping naked in the bed when Astrid returns home.
Just before going down to the beach, Astrid opens a piece of mail marked “urgent.” It reveals a photo of Zoa and Gabi together! Astrid is pissed when she learns they’ve been lying to her. We don’t see the fallout from it in this episode, but even Mayka warns Zoa to watch her back.
The nighttime beach meeting unites everyone on a giant, tiled triangle laid in the sand that displays the night sky. It’s kind of like a planetarium, except it’s projected onto the ground instead of the ceiling. Astrid and Isaac show everyone the various stars and constellations. She informs them that the signal they’ve been waiting for has arrived and invites them to join her, but only if they are convinced. Gabi is the first one to step forward.
Then Mayka plays a series of high-pitched tones that Astrid claims are the response from the stars, and it’s saying, “The new home, journey, prepare all.” After, Mayka triggers a psychedelic light show, and everyone steps into the triangle to dance and party as the blue drink is passed around. It lapses into an orgy with all of Eden’s inhabitants involved (including Gabi and Joel), except Zoa and Bel, who have realized Ibon is missing from the night’s festivities.
It looks like Alma has made her choice regarding her allegiances. She lures Ibon away from the modules under the guise of a friendly nighttime stroll. In reality, she kills him, claiming it’s punishment for him killing Ulisses, and lets him fall backward off the cliff. I guess she really wants her second X back.
