Netflix The Diplomat cast and character guide: Who stars in the political drama series?

Golden Globe Award-winning actress Keri Russell stars in a new Netflix series called The Diplomat. It’s definitely worth checking out if you enjoyed watching The Night Agent and The Recruit.

Created by Homeland writer and executive producer Debora Cahn, The Diplomat follows a career diplomat named Kate Wyler who finds herself struggling to balance her new role and marriage after landing the high-profile position of US Ambassador to the United Kingdom.

Keri Russell as Kate Wyler

Keri plays the protagonist, Kate Wyler. Kate had been working as a U.S. diplomat for a while and was set to travel to Afghanistan for her next assignment. But then Kate’s boss, the President of the United States, assigns her a new position that she believes she’s unsuited for, the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom.

Keri has starred in many movies and TV shows since the start of her acting career. However, she’s best known for playing the titular character in the television series Felicity. She also had roles in the movies Honey, I Blew Up the Kid, We Were Soldiers, Mission: Impossible III, Waitress, August Rush, Extraordinary Measures, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and Antlers. Her most recent role was in the comedy film Cocaine Bear.

Rufus Sewell as Hal Wyler

Rufus plays Hal Wyler, a well-known career diplomat and Kate’s husband. Hal helped end many wars but also made many enemies along the way. He’s used to being in the spotlight, so it’s not easy seeing his wife get all the shine with her new position.
