Florida Man ending explained: What happens to Mike, Delly, and the gold?

Netflix’s new crime-centered dramedy series Florida Man is finally here! The limited series comprises seven episodes and follows an ex-cop named Mike Valentine, who works for a Philly gangster repaying his gambling debt.

Spoilers ahead for Florida Man

When the gangster’s girlfriend, Delly, runs off to Florida, he tasks Mike with going after her. The problem is that Mike is from Florida and doesn’t enjoy returning to his home state, where he has to contend with his estranged father, convicted felon Sonny Valentine.

Throughout the show’s seven episodes, Mike gets embroiled in a crazy scheme involving lost gold and more. For those curious to find out how Florida Man ends, keep reading!

Florida Man ending explained: What happens to the gold?

Sonny stole the gold with his buddies Ray-Ray and Buzz the night before the planned heist. He squirreled it away and neglected to inform his son about it. Mike is pissed that his dad kept it from him, having believed they were finally making real progress in their relationship. Sonny admits he wasn’t planning to tell Mike about the gold because then Mike would leave Florida.

It ends up not mattering because Delly steals Sonny’s boat, where he stashed all the gold. Mike notices that Delly carved her initials above his on a pole outside of Sonny’s restaurant that Mike marked when he was a kid. Believing it to be a sign, Mike notices Sonny’s missing boat and uses geolocation to find it.

The series ends on an ambiguous note as Delly walks into the boat cabin just as Mike has discovered the treasure hoard. She asks him if he came for her or the gold. We don’t get to see Mike’s answer, but it’s a pretty happy ending when you think about how the story started because Mike and Delly were teaming up to find the gold. Now they have it and each other. On top of that, they’re free from Moss.

Does Iris die?

When we left off at the end of Florida Man‘s penultimate episode, Iris’s fate was in the air after she and Ray-Ray got into a shootout at the docks. Thankfully, Iris survives, and the last we see of her is her recovery in the hospital.

What happens to Moss?

Moss forces Mike at gunpoint to follow through on the plan to install airbags on the truck and float it to the top of the sinkhole, forbidding him to check on Iris until he does it. When he, Mike, and Delly realize the truck is empty, Moss intends to kill Mike. They get into a scrap that ends with Delly shooting Mike dead with Deputy Sheriff Ketcher’s gun.

Ketcher arrives seconds after the death, relieved to finally have his gun back, even if it is now a murder weapon. They find the bullet and return it to his rifle so he can take it and get out of Florida.
