Transatlantic season 2: Will there be another season of Transatlantic?

Netflix just released a new period drama series called Transatlantic on its service. Created by Anna Winger and Daniel Hendler, Transatlantic is a lavish new period drama from Netflix based on Julie Orringer’s novel The Flight Portfolio and the real story of the Emergency Rescue Committee (ERC). Transatlantic is an optimistic new series that focuses on a dark time in history and has received decent reviews from critics and audiences.

The series follows fictionalized versions of real people like American heiress Mary Jayne Gold (Gillian Jacobs), American journalist Varian Fry (Cory Michael Smith), and German economist Albert Hirschman (Lucas Englander). The ERC featured a group of dedicated people who ultimately assisted in rescuing more than 2,000 refugees from Nazi-occupied France in Marseille from 1940 to 1941.

All seven episodes of the show’s first season are now streaming on Netflix, but will there be a Transatlantic season 2 on the streaming service? Here’s everything we know about the show’s potential future.

Has Transatlantic been renewed for season 2?

No. Netflix has not renewed the show, but that’s not abnormal since Transatlantic only premiered on April 7.

Will there be a Transatlantic season 2 on Netflix?

It’s unlikely that Transatlantic will be renewed. The series was initially advertised as a seven-part limited series, and creator Anna Winger’s previous Netflix show Unorthodox was also a miniseries that did not receive a second season.

While it’s not unheard of for miniseries and limited series to develop into longer, multi-season projects, it doesn’t seem like that will be the case for Transatlantic. The show sets out to tell a specific story based on real events and accomplishes that task in its first season. It doesn’t seem necessary to continue it.
