2. The Major

For the first two seasons of Manifest, the main villain of the series wasn’t just the uncertainty of the passengers’ own mortality. It was ominous and mysterious entity known as The Major. Played by Elizabeth Marvel, The Major was later revealed to be US Army Major General Kathryn Fitz, who specializes in psychological warfare, which she wields at great lengths against Saanvi.

During a time when Saanvi was at her most vulnerable, exhausted and overworked doing research to save the passengers, The Major poses as a therapist and lulls Saanvi into a false sense of security. Beyond what The Major had planned, pretending to be a medical professional and using that against a patient is deeply twisted and stuff right out of a soap opera.

But as for what The Major had planned, she sought to weaponize the Callings by infecting everyone with the mutation found in the blood of Flight 828 passengers. She conducted horrifyingly brutal experiments on people and caused irreparable damage. In the end, she dies after Saanvi accidentally poisons her on the street of New York.

Because we’re ride-or-die Team Saanvi, we can’t blame Vance for covering up The Major’s death as one at the hands of an enemy spy to protect his bestie Saanvi. Also, The Major’s terribly harmful project was thankfully and justly canceled. In our eyes, Saanvi was a hero and deserves a medal for avoiding a potential national security catastrophe. Goodbye forever, Major!
