Shadow and Bone season 2 has arrived on Netflix, and it’s time for fans to become reacquainted with all of their favorite characters and cast members. Two of those cast members who will have fans shipping a mile a minute are Danielle Galligan and Calahan Skogman.

Irish actress Galligan plays Nina Zenik, a Heartrender taken captive by Fjerdans in season 1 and later teams up with the Crows. American actor Skogman plays Matthias, Fjerdan Drüskelle responsible for Nina’s capture. Obviously, the characters have a forbidden love.

Danielle Galligan and Calahan Skogman have so much chemistry onscreen that Shadow and Bone fans have naturally wondered if the actors have taken their enemies-to-lovers romance offscreen. Are Galligan and Skogman an item in real life or just close friends? Here’s what we know!

While Danielle Galligan and Calahan Skogman appear on each other’s Instagram pages quite often, it appears rumors of a potential romantic relationship haven’t been confirmed. Skogman was rumored to be dating model Taylor LaShae until at least fall 2022.

Because of the actors’ proximity in Shadow and Bone and their natural chemistry as Nina and Matthias in the show, fans surely ship them together in real life as well. But for now, it seems that they’re merely super close friends with matching tattoos.

What does Danielle Galligan’s Calahan Skogman tattoo say?

In October 2022, tattoo artist (and Galligan’s cousin!) Elva Carroll posted photos of Galligan and Skogman’s matching tattoos. They each got the word “favorite” in the other’s handwriting tattooed in different places on their arms. (Of course, Galligan used the spelling “favourite” for Skogman’s tattoo.)

Galligan most recently showed off the tattoo at the Shadow and Bone season 2 premiere event. The adorable and meaningful matching tattoos happened during Skogman’s fall 2022 trip to Ireland, where he visited Galligan and her family. Carroll’s caption in the tattoo photos post mentions Skogman as Galligan’s “bestie” and also calls the handsome actor an “extension of the family.” It’s lovely how close they are!
