All 10 episodes of You season 4 are available to stream on Netflix, and chances are you’ve already made your way through the entire season. Now you’re probably wondering if a You season 5 is happening. As of March 10, Netflix has not announced whether the thriller series will return for a fifth season which is quite a shocker since the show was given an early season 4 renewal.

However, we at Netflix Life believe You has had a great run and wouldn’t have an issue if the streaming giant chose to end the series with its fourth season. Most Netflix shows conclude after four seasons anyway.

Don’t get us wrong. You is a great show and very entertaining. And we would definitely miss seeing Joe Goldberg. But unfortunately, this show has reached the end of the road in our opinion.

If you want to know more about our thoughts on You‘s future, all you have to do is continue reading. Below, we shared three reasons why we believe You doesn’t need to be renewed for a fifth season.

Spoilers from You season 4 ahead!

Reasons why You season 5 shouldn’t happen

Joe finally finds “the one.”

Joe had been on a search to find the “perfect woman” since the beginning of the series. First, he thought Candace fit the criteria, but that turned out bad. Then, he met Beck and we all know how that went. But then Joe meets Love Quinn and thinks he can finally settle down. Technically, he does settle down because they get married and have a son. But once Joe finds out Love is a killer like him, he wants nothing to do with her. Then comes Marienne, but Love messed that budding relationship up before it could even start.

In the fourth season, Joe meets Kate and she accepts him with all his flaws, including his dark past. I mean, Love accepted Joe’s dark past as well, but Joe didn’t like how similar she was to him. At the end of the fourth season, Joe and Kate end up together and he appears to be happy as ever.

Joe doesn’t have to worry about his past being dug up anymore.

Every time Joe tries to start a new life, his dark past always ends up coming to light. But based on what happens at the end of the fourth season, it looks like Joe won’t have to worry about this issue anymore. After Joe tells Kate everything about his past, including the people he murdered, she still decides to be with him. She even uses her privilege and resources to help him get the opportunity to start over with a clean slate as Joe Goldberg instead of using a new identity. So as long as Joe is with Kate, he won’t have to worry about his dark past coming back to haunt him.

The season 4 finale seems like a series finale.

I don’t know about you, but the season 4 finale felt like a series conclusion. At the end of the season, Joe and Kate seem to be happily in love and are working towards building a future together. Kate has taken over her father’s business and opened two art schools, while Joe has opened his own bookstore. Through Joe’s voiceover, we also learn about what the other members of Kate’s friend group have been up to. So it seems like the writers set up the finale as an end to the series.

Remember, Netflix has not announced if the fourth season is the final season, so a fifth season could end up happening. We’ll keep you posted on the show’s renewal status so stay tuned!
