There’s a new Chris Rock special coming to Netflix soon! Chris Rock: Selective Outrage is coming to Netflix on Saturday, March 4, 2023, and there’s something extra special about this one.

Chris Rock: Selective Outrage is Netflix’s first live comedy special. We shared everything you need to know about how to watch Chris Rock live on Netflix below. There are a bunch of special guests joining Rock at The World Famous Comedy Store on the Sunset Strip on Saturday night.

What time is the new Chris Rock special?

According to Netflix, the new Chris Rock special starts at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, March 4, 2023, but that’s not when Rock starts performing. That’s when what Netflix has dubbed “The Show Before The Show” starts.

The Show Before the Show is hosted by Ronnie Chieng and includes appearances from Deon Cole, Leslie Jones, Arsenio Hall, and more special guests, according to the streaming network.

Rock takes the stage at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, and then immediately after Rock’s show is over, Netflix has another special show planned, The Show After The Show, hosted by David Spade and Dana Carvey. The guest list for The Show After The Show includes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, JB Smoove, and Arsenio Hall.

How to watch the new Chris Rock special live on Netflix

Netflix doesn’t normally do live shows for its comedy specials. Well, really, they don’t do live shows much at all, but that’s changing for Rock’s second official Netflix comedy special. Netflix left some pretty specific instructions for how fans will be able to watch the special live.

According to the press release, Netflix will add a “Watch Live” button to the home screen at 6:20 p.m. PT, so 10 minutes before the show officially begins. You click the “Watch Live” button (it’ll be red!), and you’ll be taken into a pre-show waiting room. If you click the button at 6:30 p.m. PT or after, you’ll be taken right into the live show.

Netflix will also give viewers the option to pause and jump to live for the special.

If you can’t watch Chris Rock: Selective Outrage live on March 4, you can watch the special at any time on Netflix (like you normally would with any show, movie, or comedy special). Unfortunately, The Show Before The Show and The Show After The Show will not be available to stream after the show is over. It’s only available live.

You can also watch the first Netflix original comedy special from Rock, Chris Rock: Tamborine, on Netflix right now.
