Sex/Life season 2, episode 3 recap: Seasons of Love

Cooper continues his mission to become The Worst™ in Sex/Life season 2, episode 3. As if cheating on Francesca with a random stranger in a restaurant bathroom isn’t bad enough, Cooper pursues his best friend’s wife, Trina, in this episode.

Yes, Trina (Amber Goldfarb) and Cooper have come close to hooking up before (remember that awkward sex party from season 1?), but it resulted in a big fight between Cooper and Devon (Jonathan Sadowski). You’d think Cooper would have learned his lesson by now, but apparently not.

MORE: Sex/Life refresher: Who is Trina?

Sex/Life season 2, episode 3 skips ahead three months. In that time, Cooper has been treating Francesca like sh*t, while Billie and Sasha are living in bliss with their new partners, Majid and Kam. However, in that three months, Billie and Cooper have barely spoken. He didn’t tell her he quit his job or that he introduced Francesca to the kids. That’s a big no-no. I understand why Billie gets upset about that, considering they’re her children too and she should have a say in who they meet.

Cooper has believed Billie and Brad have been together this whole time and she tells him that’s not what happened. She’s told him all along that their divorce wasn’t because of Brad and now Cooper finally knows that to be true, which only makes him spiral more. It’s part of what leads him to Trina.

To Cooper’s credit, Trina is equally game. She’s fed up with her marriage to Devon, and she gets rejected when trying to re-enter the job force. So Trina is in a bad place when she and Cooper cross paths. Cooper invites her over to the house, and they start going at it, handcuffs included.

But their kinky sexplay is interrupted when Hudson walks into the room. It’s just as awkward as you would expect. A panicked Hudson calls Billie, who is having a weird night of her own across town.

Billie attends a holiday party with Majid, Sasha, and Kam. While there, she crosses paths with Brad and Gigi for the first time since their impromptu wedding. It’s just as awkward as one might expect and despite Billie and Brad’s claims that they’re over one another, they are both clearly rattled by seeing the other at the party. It gets worse when Gigi corners Billie for parenting advice, though Gigi is just being nice and doesn’t understand how difficult this whole night is for Billie.

Wanting to leave the party early and call it night, Billie searches for Majid and catches him cheating on her with one of his investors, a woman named Crystal. Majid chases her outside, but that’s right when Hudson calls in a panic. Billie bails on Majid to check on her son.

She and Cooper get into an argument over the way he’s been acting lately, between the new job, Francesca, and now Trina. Cooper is trying to f**k the pain away, and it’s clearly not working. The fight leads to a sincere heart-to-heart between the two where Billie apologizes to Cooper for hurting him and proposes they attend counseling together.

Cooper misinterprets what Billie is trying to say, believing she wants to get back together when in reality she just wants them to get to a better place. Cooper realizes that even though Billie isn’t with Brad, she’s moved on with someone else and that sets him off. He kicks Billie out of the house, which is ridiculous. What right does Cooper have to be on a high horse right now?

Back at Brad’s loft, Gigi has finally realized the weight of Billie and Brad’s previous relationship. She asks him not to see Billie ever again.

Outside all of the romantic drama, Sasha reaches a crossroads in her career. Even though her relationship with Kam is going, things hit a snag when he inadvertently embarrasses Sasha at an event, triggering a viral meme moment. Mick calls Sasha to let her know she’s being dragged to filth on Twitter and if she doesn’t ditch Kam and fix things ASAP, then everything she’s worked for is kaput.
