Sex/Life is one of Netflix’s steamiest romantic dramas, perfect for fans of Fifty Shades of Gray, Sex and the City, The L Word, and 365 Days. After almost two years of waiting, fans finally get to watch Sex/Life season 2 on Thursday, March 2.

All the promotional material for the new episodes makes it look like the new season will be even hotter and more dramatic than the freshman season. Sarah Shahi and Adam Demos are returning as the ultimate will they/won’t they couple Billie and Brad, along with other returning characters like Billie’s husband Cooper (Mike Vogel), Billie’s best friend Sasha (Margaret Odette), and more.

Several newcomers like Annabelle Wallis, Cleo Anthony, Darius Homayoun, and Dylan Bruce are also joining the show this season.

But one year and some change is a long time to wait between seasons, and it’s hard to remember all the important events in Sex/Life season 1. If you need a refresher on what happened in the show’s first season before diving into the new episodes, we’ve got you covered. Keep reading for a brief Sex/Life season 1 recap ahead of Sex/Life season 2.

How did Sex/Life season 1 end?

The most important thing to remember about Sex/Life season 1 is that Billie goes to Brad’s loft, keen on having an affair. After eight episodes spent grappling with her sexuality and torn between remaining faithful to her husband Cooper or seeking excitement from her ex-flame Brad, it looked like Billie had finally chosen to stay with Cooper and make things work.

But in a dramatic twist, she shows up at Brad’s doorstep in the hopes of having sex and getting it out of her system. More than that, Cooper installs a tracker on Billie’s phone, so he watches as she runs to Brad’s loft, and the last time we see Cooper, he’s on the phone with his flirtatious boss Francesca.

Sex/Life season 1 recap

Besides the love triangle between Billie and Brad, there are a few other important things to remember from season 1.

The crazy suburban sex party

In Sex/Life episode 7, Billie and Cooper bite off way more than they can chew by attending a sex party on advice from their friends Devon and Trina. While there, Trina starts giving Cooper a blowjob like mid-conversation, and then Devon makes a move on Billie. Devon and Cooper come to blows over the whole thing, which later causes Cooper to miss out on a work opportunity. It’s a mess.

Brad proposed to Billie

Before Billie turns up looking for a sexy affair in the finale, Brad proposes marriage to her at the end of episode 7. It’s somewhat ideal timing since the sex party throws everything Billie thought she knew about her marriage into doubt, but Brad’s impromptu proposal sends her running for the hills and straight back to Cooper.

Sasha publishes a book

Sasha is on her way to becoming a huge success after publishing her book The Third Way.

Alex proposes to Sasha

Alex, or “the choking guy,” as Billie and Sasha affectionately dub him, proposes to Sasha. She tells Billie she’s going to take 48 hours to consider the proposal, but she seems pretty excited about it when we last see her.

Trina and Caroline

Billie’s mom friends Trina and Caroline turn on her after the sex party debacle. They even judge her at a children’s event at school, causing Cooper to come to the rescue and stand up for his wife.

By the season’s end, Caroline seems to have come around and lets her kids play with Billie’s son again, while Trina is bitter because Devon doesn’t want to go to sex parties anymore and has been inspired by Cooper to have a more traditional marriage. She blames Billie for her life becoming “less exciting.” As for Devon and Cooper, they also appear to be on the mend.
