We’re learning about the Netflix shows and movie removals set for March 2023, and it looks like Arrested Development is on the chopping block.

Arrested Development originally aired on Fox from 2003-2006 for three seasons before being canceled in 2006. The comedy sitcom received positive reviews from critics and even managed to win several Emmy awards over its run at Fox. However, Arrested Development still got the boot due to low ratings and viewership.

In 2011, Netflix made a big move by picking up the Emmy Award-winning sitcom from Fox and continued the series for two additional seasons. After new episodes of the sitcom arrived on Netflix in 2013, the series saw an increase in viewership. People have even dubbed the show as “one of the funniest comedies ever.” It’s definitely a series you’ll find yourself rewatching every now and then.

Now, Netflix has set a departure date for all five seasons of Arrested Development, and it’s sooner than you think. We’ve gotten to the bottom of this bad news and shared what we know about the comedy sitcom’s departure from the streamer down below.

03/28/23 UPDATE: Arrested Development is no longer leaving Netflix and is believed to remain on the platform until at least March 2026

When is Arrested Development leaving Netflix?

All five seasons of the comedy sitcom will be departing Netflix on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. This means the last day to watch the show is on March 14.

Why is Arrested Development leaving Netflix?

If you’re wondering why the entire series is leaving Netflix, it’s because it’s owned by Disney/Fox. Ever since the deal between Netflix and Disney ended, Disney started gradually removing its content from Netflix.

For example, in February 2022, we learned that all the Marvel Netflix shows would be leaving that March. If you didn’t know the Marvel Netflix shows are owned by Disney. So, the comedy sitcom’s departure isn’t surprising.

Where to watch Arrested Development

As of Feb. 13, Arrested Development seasons 1-3 are already available to stream on Hulu and will most likely remain there. However, Disney hasn’t clarified where seasons 4 and 5 will be available to stream next, but it’s highly likely they’ll be added to Hulu. Keep in mind that in order to watch the series on Hulu, a monthly subscription is required.
