You fans, did you know that You season 4 part 1 is now available to stream on Netflix? If so, you probably have tons of questions about that shocking reveal at the end of part 1. We finally find out the identity of the Eat The Rich killer, and we weren’t expecting this person to be the killer at all.

You season 4 part 1 opens with Joe living in London, England. He no longer goes by Joe and has taken on a new identity. Everyone knows him as Jonathan Moore, a literature professor. Initially, Joe didn’t have friends and preferred to keep this way in order to keep a low profile. However, his plans to stay under the radar go out the window when he accidentally involves himself with a circle of wealthy friends, and a mysterious killer begins picking them off one by one. The mysterious killer is later given the name of the “Eat The Rich killer.”

To make matters worse for Joe, the Eat The Rich killer constantly harasses him by sending him threatening messages about figuring out who he really is. The killer also tries to frame Joe for their murders. This leads Joe on a mission to find out who the Eat The Rich killer is. He believes the killer is someone in the friend group but can’t seem to pin them down. Well, that’s until the final episode of part 1.

So, how does You season 4 part 1 wrap up? Who is the Eat The Rich killer? Does Joe end up with anyone in part 1? We answered all these questions and more right below.

MAJOR spoilers from You season 4 part 1 ahead!

Who is the Eat The Rich killer in You season 4 part 1?

The Eat The Rich killer is revealed to be Rhys Montrose, the only person in the friend group that Joe really bonded with. After Joe manages to knock Roald out in the woods, he rolls over onto his back on the ground. Then, a mysterious person picks up Roald’s gun and turns around to face Joe. The person is revealed to be Rhys. Rhys greets Joe before knocking him unconscious with the gun.

The next scene shows Joe waking up in the secret soundproof basement of Phoebe’s country house. He looks around at his surroundings and notices that he and Roald are chained up to a wall. Then, Rhys makes his presence known by speaking out loud. Joe asks Rhys why he’s killing people, but Rhys never quite gives him his motive. However, Joe quickly realizes that Rhys just hates the elite, so he’s killing them off.

Rhys lets Joe in on his plan. He tells Joe to kill Roald, and then he’ll handle the rest. Once Roald is dead, Rhys will pin all of the murders on him, something that he learned from Joe when he researched him. Remember, this is what Joe did to Love in the season 3 finale.

Joe disagrees with Rhys’s plan because he’s a changed man and all, but he knows his only way out is to pretend to go through with the plan. So, he agrees to help Rhys. But once Rhys leaves Joe in the basement so that he can kill Roald, Joe doesn’t actually go through with it. Instead, he tries to find a way to break the chains on his wrist.

Rhys comes back, sees what Joe is doing, and becomes enraged. He calls Joe a liar and then tells him that maybe they can work together in the future if he manages to escape from the basement. As Rhys leaves, he knocks over a lamp that sets the entire basement on fire.

Does Joe die in You season 4 part 1?

No, Joe does not die. He breaks the chains on his wrist and yells for help from an opening on the ceiling. Then, Kate appears and helps him out. Joe had been in worst situations before, so I wasn’t surprised he made it out of the basement alive.

Does Roald die in You season 4 part 1?

No, Roald doesn’t die either. Once Joe breaks free from his chains, he decides to help Roald out of his. When Kate arrives, she helps Joe and Roald out of the burning basement.

Do Joe and Kate end up together in You season 4 part 1?

Sadly, Joe and Kate do not end up together. However, they do sleep together twice and recognize that they have feelings for one another. In the final moments of part 1, Kate shows up at Joe’s doorstep, asking him out for drinks. Although Joe wants to take the next step with Kate, he knows that if they start dating, she’ll eventually find out about his dark past. So, he turns Kate’s invitation down, which angers Kate. Could they get together in part 2? It’s possible, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Do Lady Phoebe and Adam end up together?

Sadly, Phoebe and Adam do not end up together. However, they might get back together in part 2 based on their last scene together in part 1. After Phoebe finds Adam injured, they both express their love for one another. Adam even tells Phoebe that he doesn’t want to lose her. Remember, they break up earlier in episode 5 after Phoebe realizes that Adam doesn’t see them as equals in their relationship. However, it looks like they might be able to work through this obstacle and get back together.

Rhys explains that he knows what the citizens of London need. He tells the interviewer they need change, and he knows just what to do to bring about that change. Rhys then officially announces his run for mayor. As Joe stares at his TV screen, his voiceover plays in the background. Joe vows to stop Rhys before he kills any more people and before he tries to bring him down. Then, it cuts to the credits.
