Does Roald die in You season 4 part 1?

You season 4 part 1 is available to watch on Netflix. This season, Joe finds himself involved with a wealthy group of friends who eventually become the targets of a mysterious killer. Does Roald end up being one of the killer’s victims? Find out below.

Roald hails from an old aristocratic family that’s well-known across Europe. He’s seemingly a good friend to Kate and is fiercely loyal to her. However, his loyalty may be because he harbors feelings for the art gallery director. He also has a dark side to him that we discover in the latter half of part 1.

Due to Roald’s obsessive nature when it comes to Kate, this leads Joe to believe that he may be the mysterious killer. However, we later find out that the killer is someone else when Joe and Roald are tied up with chains and trapped in the sound-proof basement of Phoebe’s country house by Rhys. Rhys reveals to Joe that he’s the Eat The Rich killer before he sets the basement on fire and leaves. Joe makes it out of the basement alive, but what about Roald?

Does Roald die in You season 4 part 1?

No, Roald doesn’t die in You season 4 part 1. Instead, he makes it out of the basement in one piece because of Joe’s kindness. While Joe tries to break free of the chains on his wrist, Roald lies on the floor unconscious. Joe eventually gets the chains off his wrist and Roald wakes up.

As Roald begs Joe not to leave him in the basement, Joe picks up a rock and walks toward him. In the past, Joe would’ve most likely bludgeoned Roald to death with the rock because of how he treated him. However, Joe had been working so hard to change that he used the rock to break the chains on Roald’s wrists to set him free.

Once they’re both free, they run an opening on the ceiling and yell for help. Kate appears, opens the latch, and helps Joe and Roald out of the burning basement.

So, Roald ends up being one of the lucky ones who doesn’t die in part 1. However, this doesn’t mean he’s safe. He could be murdered in You season 4 part 2 because Rhys hasn’t been caught. I guess we’ll have to wait until part 2 comes out on March 9 to find out.
