The first five episodes of You season 4 are now available to watch on Netflix. This season follows Joe as he attempts to start a new life in London. However, his plans are thwarted when he accidentally involves himself with a new friend circle of “privileged douchebags.”

It all begins when Joe helps Kate from being robbed. After Kate tells her boyfriend Malcolm about what Joe did, Malcolm invites Joe out to his friend’s new exclusive club, Sundry House. There, Joe is introduced to Kate and Malcolm’s entire friend group.

Joe learns that not only is the friend group wealthy, but they’re also party animals. They’re taking shot after shot and doing all kinds of drugs. Kate’s best friend, Phoebe, even forces Joe to join in on the fun. She offers him an alcoholic beverage called Absinthe, and Joe begins to feel funny after drinking it. The room starts spinning, his hearing becomes impaired, and everything seems like it’s moving in slow motion. Gemma even warns Joe about the effects of the drink. So, it’s definitely a strong drink.

Is Absinthe from You season 4 a real alcoholic drink?

Yes, Absinthe is an actual alcoholic beverage, and you can buy it in liquor stores in the United States. According to Food Network, Absinthe is a “vibrant green spirit distilled from grape alcohol and fresh herbs.” It’s a highly alcoholic spirit with an alcohol content of 45–75% by volume.

It was very popular in the late 19th century but was banned in the early 1900s. In fact, the ban didn’t lift in the U.S. until 2007. However, it’s highly regulated now.

There was a belief that Absinthe could cause hallucinations. However, this was later proved false. It’s believed not to be any more dangerous than other spirits. Additionally, its taste has been described as bitter and similar to black licorice.
