Bridgerton season 3 cast update: Phoebe Dynevor won’t appear as Daphne Bridgerton

Unfortunately, Phoebe Dynevor, who portrays Daphne Bridgerton in the period drama, will not be reprising her role in the highly anticipated third season. When Bridgerton season 1 premiered in December 2020, everyone was excited to see what the period drama series was all about, especially since it was a Shondaland production. However, what people weren’t expecting to do was fall in love with the two main leads as they did. Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page absolutely knocked their roles out of the park, and people couldn’t stop talking about their amazing portrayals for months. This is why fans were devastated to find out that Regé-Jean Page would be departing from the series after the first season.

Fortunately, Phoebe Dynevor returned for the second season, albeit not for many episodes. Now it’s been announced that the Bridgerton star has exited the series and will not be returning for the third season. This is such a bummer!

Phoebe Dynevor will not return for Bridgerton season 3

At Sundance Film Festival, Screenrant got the opportunity to interview Phoebe Dynevor, who was there to promote her new mystery thriller Fair Play. When asked about Bridgerton season 3, Phoebe revealed that she would not be in the third season. However, she did say there is a possibility she could return in a future season and that she’s happy to watch the third season as a viewer.

Of course, this news saddened fans everywhere, but many of us saw Phoebe’s departure coming. Daphne Bridgerton’s story was told entirely in the first season, and as we all know, each season of Bridgerton will focus on another Bridgerton family member’s love story. So, Daphne isn’t really needed that much other than to appear briefly to support her siblings.

It’s unclear how the show will address Daphne’s absence, but we hope she’s mentioned several times throughout the season. This way, it’ll be like she never left.

Bridgerton season 3 will arrive on Netflix by the end of 2023. However, we’re still waiting on the official release date.
