If your kids loved the first movie, there’s no doubt that they want to see the second. Minions: The Rise of Gru came out in theaters in July 2022. Now it’s time to stream it in your own home with a Netflix subscription.

Well, it’s almost time. The second Minions movie is heading to Netflix on Monday, Jan. 30. Your children will want to watch it the minute that it drops. Will this be a release like on Prime Video where we get the content the night before? Here’s all you need to know about the release time.

Minions: The Rise of Gru release time on Netflix

Sadly, you won’t want to watch it the night before. This isn’t something to use to get the children to relax a bit before bedtime on Sunday. The official release time for Minions: The Rise of Gru is 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT.

That does mean your children will likely need to wait until after school to watch it. It will be worth the wait, though. Put it on while you’re cooking dinner and you’ll have some time without the kids getting under the feet as they try to help in the kitchen. Only mine?

Minions: The Rise of Gru is set in the 1970s. It picks up shortly after the first movie, which saw the minions search for their evil master to give them tasks. At the very end, they found a young Gru, and now we get to see how he went from child to the villain-turned-hero that we know him as in Despicable Me.

Gru wants to join a group of supervillains after they oust their leader. What will he need to do to prove that he is worthy of the open spot?
