If you don’t believe that Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre was a masterpiece from start to finish, then we implore you to watch the season all over again because this Netflix original series has to be one of the best anime adaptations we’ve seen in a long time.

The 2023 release did everything we expected it to. It made us jump out of our seats, hide under our covers, and, now and then, it made us lose our appetites when we thought a little too hard about certain grotesque scenes.

All in all, the Netflix new release was a fantastic watch. So much so that fans of the new release are wondering whether there will ever be more of Junji Ito’s toe-curling stories like this on the way. Needless to say, we can’t help but wonder the same thing!

Here’s everything we know so far about the potential of a sophomore season for Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre.

Will there be a season 2 of Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre?

As of today, Netflix has yet to issue any statement regarding a renewal for Junji Ito Maniac. We predict this is because the series is still relatively new, meaning the streaming service needs a little bit more time before it can make a decision.

Seeing that there are a couple more of Junji Ito’s horror stories that could be adapted, we do expect to see more content soon. But we’ll have to wait a little longer to know what plans Netflix has for this anime and other similar future installments.
