Kaleidoscope recap: White: The Heist

It’s the moment of truth, the day of the heist. Everything appears to be going well, and the heist starts off perfectly. Problems don’t arise until the moment when Judy is trying to prepare the vault for flooding it with water. It comes down to the wire with Ava noting that they need to blow the ceiling, whether that means harming Judy in the process or not.

Luckily, RJ arrives in time to help Judy, and they get out of the tunnel just as Ava pulls the trigger and causes the explosion that floods the vault.

After that, Stan and Bob get into one of the safes and successfully move the bonds inside. Hannah takes them and swaps them into various FedEx envelopes.

Things quickly go haywire from there. Bob bails on the group after they finish the first safe, leaving Stan to finish on his own. Stan gets the safe open but it triggers some sort of failsafe that causes a cage to come down. Everyone gets out before becoming trapped in the vault, albeit barely. Leo has to put a device between the cage doors to create an opening.

Meanwhile, Bob tries to leave with Judy, attacking RJ in the process when he sees him. Using the gun Judy gave him, RJ shoots Bob, and then Judy shoots RJ, seemingly killing him.

Stan arrives and sees Judy and Bob planning to bail. Bob and Stan get into a fight/shootout, and Judy suddenly switches teams to protect Stan. She strangles Bob with a crowbar and leaves him to die in the street.

As for Nazaran, it turns out that Ava has remained loyal to Ray and his crew. She tricks the FBI agent into going to a different floor with fake gunfire and a text message. And while Nazaran quickly realizes they’ve been duped, she does notice a fake wall that leads to security footage. Noticing the feedback loop created by the crew, Nazaran unhooks everything so they can see the real heist occurring 50+ floors below.

Triggering the security also allows Roger to see what is happening at home. While hanging out with his son (who happens to be wearing the same shirt as the man who kills Leo in the “Pink” episode), the cameras cut to the real robbery and Roger jumps into action.

Kaleidoscope White ending explained

At the end of the episode, we find out that Hannah ran a second job during all of this. She doesn’t want to be Leo’s inside man anymore than she wanted to be Roger’s VP. Hannah was actually working with Stefan Thiele. She stole the bonds to give back to him, effectively washing the money (laundering) and returning it to him because she feared what the triplets would do to her dad.

Then in the final moments of the episode, Leo returns to the vault to leave behind one of the jewels from the heist he and Roger pulled, the one that resulted in Lily’s death. If you recall from the end of “Red,” Nazaran and Toby see that Roger put something in his safe. We can assume that the jewel is what led to Roger getting arrested and going to jail. That’s why Leo found it so important to get into that safe, so he could ensure Roger went down.
