Is After Ever Happy part of the After film series? (After movies in order)

Netflix has finally got its hands on After Ever Happy. After a theatrical release in September 2022, After Ever Happy makes its way to the streamer on Christmas Day, Dec. 25!

It’s a romantic drama movie following the complicated love story of Tessa (Josephine Langford) and Hardin (Hero Fiennes Tiffin). Their love story begins in college, but now they’re young adults trying to make it in the world while dealing with relationship troubles and family trauma. Hardin struggles with finding out who he thought was his dad isn’t really his dad. Meanwhile, Tessa suffers a tragic loss that pushes her to the brink. After deciding to spend time apart to heal themselves, they ultimately make their way back to each other. But can they make their relationship work this time?

The movie’s title, story plot, and character names might sound familiar to you. Could After Ever Happy be a part of the successful After film series? Find out below!

Is After Ever Happy part of the After film series?

Yes! The romantic drama is the fourth movie in the film series. It was directed by Castille Landon and written by Sharon Soboil. Landon also directed the third movie, and Soboil wrote the screenplay.

Additionally, most of the After movies are based on Anna Todd’s After books. Todd has written and published five After books: After, After We Collided, After We Fell, After Ever Happy and Before. However, there are seven films in total, but only four of them have come out so far.

After Everything, which is not based on any of Todd’s books but uses the same characters and storyline, will be the next movie to be released sometime in 2023. The last two films will be a prequel and a sequel. The prequel will be based on Todd’s Before book, and the sequel will focus on Tessa and Hardin’s kids. The sequel is not based on any of Todd’s books, but will still follow past movies.
