Tired of fielding her family’s questioning about and interference into her love life each holiday, Sloane (Emma Roberts) decides to put an end to being single by teaming up with Jackson (Luke Bracey), a stranger who agrees to join her as a “platonic plus-one” to all holiday celebrations throughout the year.

The movie earned middling reception from critics, but its relatable premise and great performances from the lovable leads are worth the watch.

Although Holidate celebrates more holidays than just Christmas, the hearty, sometimes raunchy, laughs are the perfect antidote to the family-friendly seasonal classics and other sugar-sweet Christmas rom-coms on Netflix and beyond.
