It might not be a traditional Christmas movie with a heartfelt storyline or songs, but Eyes Wide Shut is one of the best movies streaming on Netflix, and it also happens to take place during the holidays. Many people consider it the best holiday movie, even if it’s not the first one you think of. The R-rated drama follows a couple in New York City who have a huge fight after a Christmas party. After that, the husband Bill (Tom Cruise) embarks on a series of wild nights of intrigue, including attending a secretive orgy society event and other strange happenings.

The movie is directed by Stanley Kubrick, one of the all-time greatest filmmakers, and it’s based on a novella called Traumnovelle (Dream Story) by Arthur Schnitzler. Eyes Wide Shut marks Kubrick’s final movie, as he died less than a month after the film premiered in theaters in the United States.

Eyes Wide Shut is just a fantastic movie from start to finish, featuring really great dialogue and fantastic performances from Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. The two leads were married while filming which brings an extra edge to their portrayals.
