Academy Award-nominated filmmaker and documentarian Joe Berlinger is back with yet another documentary series at Netflix, this time about the infamous financier and fraudster Bernie Madoff. MADOFF: The Monster of Wall Street is an upcoming docuseries investigating Madoff’s multibillion-dollar Ponzi scheme. It premieres in January and will consist of four, hour-long episodes.

Berlinger’s previous Netflix projects include the Crime Scene series, which recently released its third installment focused on the Texas Killing Fields. He is also behind Netflix’s Conversations with a Killer docuseries, which focuses on serial killers like John Wayne Gacy, Jeffrey Dahmer, and Ted Bundy.

In addition to directing, Berlinger is also executive producing The Monster of Wall Street alongside Jon Kamen, Jon Doran, Jen Isaacson, Samantha Grogin, and Eve Rodrick.

What is The Monster of Wall Street about?

This docuseries will dig into the truth behind Madoff’s scheme, the largest of its kind in history. Netflix will provide never-before-seen video depositions from Madoff himself, in addition to access to whistleblowers, investigators, victims, and more.

Where is Bernie Madoff now?

Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison in June 2009. He was imprisoned at the Federal Medical Center, Butner, a federal prison in North Carolina, when he died after serving almost 12 years at the age of 82 on April 14, 2021, due to terminal kidney disease.
