Firefly Lane season 2, episode 7 recap: Good Riddance/Time of Your Life
Well, the big moment has finally arrived. In Firefly Lane season 2, episode 7, we finally learn exactly what happened that leads to Tully and Kate’s big falling out.
1970s
The 1970 portion of this episode follows Tully and Kate at their new jobs at a local burger joint. Neither is thrilled with Lisa-Karen being their shift manager, especially since she’s mean to both of them. Kate finally confronts Lisa-Karen about her behavior, and she says it’s because Kate bailed on her the second Tully came back to town. Kate apologizes and asks if they can start over, but Lisa-Karen blows her off.
While working at the fast-food restaurant, Tully notices her rapist, Pat (Michael Taylor), come inside to eat with his new girlfriend. Fearing that Pat will do the same thing to the new girl that he did to her, Tully tries to warn her, but she says Pat already told her what happened.
Of course, Pat’s version of events is much different than Tully’s. He claims Tully is a psycho who was obsessed with him. Tully tells his new girlfriend that’s not true. At first, it doesn’t seem like she believes Tully, but later, Tully and Kate see her and Pat arguing.
That night, Pat confronts Tully in the parking lot because he’s pissed she said something to his new girlfriend. Pat still denies that he did anything wrong, but it’s cathartic to see Tully stand up to him and call him out on his lies.
1980s
Tully tries to help Kate bounce back and get back into the dating world after her breakup with Johnny. Her goal is to get Kate on a dating site, one of the first back then, and use it as a segment for the show.
The videos Tully shows Kate from some of the available bachelors are not appealing, except one from a cute British guy named Theo (Oliver Rice), that has some potential. But they both decide to forgo the dating app for now and hit the bars instead. Tully tries to teach Kate how to flirt and be more like her.
Surprisingly, Kate runs into Theo at the bar, and they hit it off right away. While they’re out, Tully also admits that she is sad that Danny left. Kate suggests she tell him how she feels, even if it means trying a long-distance relationship. Tully leaves to call Danny and tells Kate he didn’t answer, but she left him a voicemail.
2000s
Now that Kate and Johnny are back together, Tully takes Marah for a weekend so they can enjoy some romantic time alone. But Marah really wants to go see Ashley after she invites her to go to the movies, and Tully can’t resist saying no to her even though Marah is grounded.
Sadly, Ashley only invites Kate to the movies as a scheme to attend a frat party where she wants to reconnect with her ex-boyfriend. Ashley ditches Marah at the party, and Marah quickly gets harassed by one of the guys there. She panics and hides in a pantry, calling Tully for help.
While all of this is happening, Tully is at home relaxing and is shocked to run into Danny at her building. It turns out he’s her neighbor. They spend some time together catching up and drinking wine when Tully gets the call from Marah. During their conversation, we learn that Tully never left Danny a message. She just called and then hung up shortly after he answered.
Even though she’s had a few drinks, she still immediately gets in her car to pick up her goddaughter. Someone T-bones them at an intersection, and the episode ends with Tully and Marah both in the hospital. Tully appears to be okay, but Marah’s fate is left up in the air.
