1899 cast guide: Who’s who in the new Netflix show?

Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar’s new Netflix series,1899, is available to stream. It follows a migrant steamship of European immigrants as it heads to New York from London. But suddenly, the trip goes left when the steamship comes across another migrant ship adrift on the open sea. The passengers soon find themselves caught up in a mysterious riddle and their journey to the promised land becomes a complete nightmare.

1899 is definitely a show you have to pay attention to at all times. There’s a lot going on in each scene, and if you look away for even a second, you might miss something significant to the plot.

The mystery-horror series is also made up of a well-ensemble cast. You have to remember many faces and names because every character plays a part in the story. Emily plays the role of Maura, one of the passengers on the steamship (Kerberos) to New York. She’s a doctor traveling alone on the ship. However, women were not allowed to practice medicine in England in 1899. They were only able to study it.

Andreas portrays Eyk in the mystery-horror series. Eyk is the German captain of the Kerberos. Once he receives a signal from the ship that’s been lost for four months (Prometheus), he changes the Kerberos route to see if any passengers are alive on the other migrant ship.
