Netflix is bringing us a new series with a “frightening” twist. The new competition show Dance Monsters is heading our way in December, and it’s certainly an interesting concept.

The series was created thanks to production company, Lime Pictures. Executive producers on the project include Sarah Tyekiff, Andrew Jackman, and Tamsin Dodgson.

Get ready to put hose dance shoes on! Here’s all we know about the show ahead of its release on Netflix.

Dance Monsters release date

The dance competition series will be released Friday, Dec. 16 on Netflix. There are a total of eight, 40-minute episodes that will begin to stream at 12 a.m. PT/3 a.m. ET. For those in the Midwest, you’re looking at a 2 a.m. release time. Anyone willing to stay up for it?

Dance Monsters synopsis

Netflix has shared the following synopsis:

"In this feel-good competition, amateur dancers disguised as CGI avatars bring their best moves, hoping to wow our panel of judges and win $250,000."

The show seems to be a sort-of combination of Dancing with the Stars, The Masked Singer, and The Voice. It’s not really clear why the CGI avatars come into play. Is it not to judge a dancer based on their looks, the same as The Voice? Or is it all just for fun? We’ll find out soon enough!

Dance Monsters cast

We’ve got a treat in who takes on MC duties! Hint, it’s one of the members of The Pussycat Dolls! And of course, no competition series would be complete without its judges. And based on the synopsis, all the cards are in their hands to choose a winner. So who takes on these important roles?

Host:

Ashley Roberts

Judges:

  • Ne-Yo
  • Lele Pons
  • Ashley Banjo

Ne-Yo is no stranger to dance competitions. You could call him a pro! The singer and dancer served on a panel with Jennifer Lopez and Derek Hough on NBC’s World of Dance. The show ran from 2017 to 2020.

Banjo is a street dancer and choreographer and actor who is the leader of dance troupe, Diversity. The group won Britain’s Got Talent in season 3. Pons is a Venezuelan-American internet personality and YouTuber.
