Now that the candy is collected, the costumes are in storage, and the pumpkins are rotted, it’s time to get into the Christmas spirit. Netflix is releasing a slate of holiday movies to kick off the season. Though Lindsay Lohan’s Falling for Christmas has probably received the most publicity of the batch, others will soon be released on the streaming service.
Christmas with You, directed by Gabriela Tagliavini, tells the story of a successful but burnt-out pop star Angelina (Aimee Garcia), who’s looking for inspiration as she begrudgingly tries to write a hit holiday song. Through her writer’s block and creative struggles, she comes across a video from a young fan who only wishes to meet the star during the holidays. Naturally, Angelina feels connected to this particular fan and decides to shake things up and visit.
What is Christmas With You about?
Once she surprises the fan, Angelina gets stranded in the snow and stuck in the town. After spending more time there, Angelina begins succumbing to the small town’s charm. She also begins to fall for the fan’s father. Christmas with You appears to follow many of the classic holiday movie tropes—an influential figure finds herself in a small town; the small town starts to grow on her; she falls for someone in the small town.
Christmas With You stars Aimee Garcia, from Lucifer, as the lead role of Angelina. Alongside her are Freddie Prinze Jr., who’s focused on voice acting in movies since his peak popularity in the 1990s and early 2000s with films like She’s All That and the Scooby-Doo franchise. Gabriel Sloyer, Lawrence J. Hughes, Deja Monique Cruz, Zenzi Williams, Elisa Bocanegra, Grace Dumdaw, and Matthew Grimaldi join Garcia and Prinze in the cast.
The film has a runtime of 89 minutes and a budget of about $10 million. Netflix will release Christmas With You on Thursday, November 17, just in time for the holidays.
