Manifest season 4 part 1 has finally landed on Netflix, and it’s safe to say Manifesters around the world are digging into the 10 new episodes and picking up on all the new clues and revelations. The first part of the new season also introduces something called the Registry.

Before we dive into what the Registry is for and how it impacts 828 passengers, let’s first cover some background Manifest season 4. The final season picks up two years after the events of the season 3 finale, which means there’s a lot of missed time for fans to catch up on.

Since we’re already going into the first half of the season with a million questions, it’s only fitting that the new episodes should plop us right in the middle of continued chaos and give us a million more questions to ponder on while we catch up with the Stones and their Lifeboat.

If you’re wondering about the Registry and its ins and out, we’re breaking down what you need to know about the government agency, who’s working for it, and how it’s actively working against 828ers (but basically pretending to be helping them).

Warning: Spoilers ahead from Manifest season 4 part 1!

What is the Registry in Manifest season 4?

When the Flight 828 plane went missing in the final seconds of Manifest season 3, the government shutdown the research operations and thus closed down Eureka. That was the facility opened for testing on the plane, tailfin, passengers, and more to get to the bottom of the flight.

In order to keep track of the 828 passengers, the Registry was opened in New York City, and all of the passengers are required by law to check-in once per month or face jail time. During their check-ins, the Registry takes their vitals and inquires about Callings — without saying as much.

The Registry also investigates certain phenomena that occurs with the passengers and detains any of them that break the law. As we’re shocked to learn, Drea now works for the Registry rather than the NYPD, but she’s working as a double agent on the inside of the belly of the beast.

Even though the Registry operates under the guise of keeping the 828ers in line, protecting them, or whatever they might say, they are a new sector of law enforcement that threatens the well-being of the passengers — the direct opposite of Jared’s work at the NYPD. That’s why Michaela provides as little information as possible during her Registry check-ins.

By the end of season 4 part 1, Jared accepts a transfer to the Registry, where he works closely with Drea as a detective to further help passengers from the inside. That will be an uphill battle given the brutality the Registry shows to passengers, especially by having them all detained in the aftermath of Angelina’s false Callings and its affect on 828ers around the world.
