Manifest season 4 episode 9 recap: Rendezvous

It’s been a month since Cal started on Saanvi’s immunotherapy treatment, but his body isn’t responding and the cancer progressed. Dr. Bates and Saanvi break the news that Cal likely only has days left to live. They keep the prognosis quiet during Michaela and Zeke’s three-year anniversary dinner, but their champagne toast is interrupted by a shared Calling that features Jared, Olive, and Zeke on the plane during turbulence and Thomas pulling on the cargo hatch.

Eagan ventures to a restricted area at the Masonic Temple of the Omega Order after a volunteer shift, and his coworker Kenroy (actually Thomas’ boyfriend Leo) catches him. Michaela and Saanvi follow the compass to the boiler room where they once hid Thomas, which happens to be the same restricted area Eagan and Leo are sneaking around in. When the compass points at the heart drawn on the wall, Eagan pounds through it and reveals this could lead to the Omega Sapphire. A call to Olive and TJ confirms the tiles on the wall match Al-Zuras’ tarot deck.

Cal realizes Marko’s light turned on in the Calling, prompting Jared and Zeke to team up to break Marko out of ALNI. Now at the Stone house, Marko draws his Calling and borrows one of Eden’s crayons to draw lava and fire erupting out of a volcano. Olive recognizes it as The World card from Al-Zuras’ tarot deck, the exact tile the Omega crew needs. When Michaela ignites the triangular grate, the wall appears volcanic, drips with lava and flames, and crumbles brick by brick. Once finished, an image of the Goddess Ma’at appears on the wall with a small hole in the center containing the Omega Sapphire.

The building begins to rupture, and Eagan uses the opportunity to run off with the Omega Sapphire. However, Leo’s leg is trapped under a heavy fallen object, and Michaela has to let Eagan get away. Luckily, Thomas finds them and not only frees them from being trapped but finally reunites with Leo. The passengers have a shared Calling on Flight 828 as it’s going down with their loved ones still in their seats. They realize the Death Date is for the whole world, not just for the passengers. Eagan appears in the Calling with the glowing Omega Sapphire, but he disappears when it’s revealed he’s been knocked out, potentially killed, in his motel room.

Biggest Revelations:

  • Eden gives Marko a volcano snowglobe, which explodes and disappears when he returns to ALNI. In the final Calling on the plane, Ben sees a volcano down below.
  • Eden answered an unknown number and left the phone on the ground. It’s not revealed who could have been on the other end and listening to their conversations. (Angelina?)
  • Olive pulls the Death tarot card and learns the truth about Cal’s prognosis.
  • As Cal takes morphine, Zeke’s powers fluctuate. It’s not revealed if he’s taken on Cal’s pain and what that could possibly do to Zeke.
  • Jared decides to accept the detective position at the Registry.
