Manifest season 4 episode 6 recap: Relative Bearing
The NYPD investigates the boarding house fire as well as Erika’s death, causing alarm for Jared. Meanwhile, Ben and Michaela each address the media and the Registry, respectively, about the events of Eden’s homecoming. As far as they know, Angelina remains missing. However, she’s back at her mother’s home looking banged up after the fire, and she calls Ben checking in on Eden, giving him quite the scare. When Cal allows Angelina to speak with Eden on the phone, much to Ben’s anger and devastation, he leaves in the middle of the night. Zeke finds Cal unconscious.
Michaela follows a Calling of an aquarium to Sam Wile’s home, but when she enters the house, she discovers all of his aquariums have been smashed and he’s lying dead in his kitchen with an X marked in blood on his palm. Jared arrives on the scene and remembers Sam being brutalized by Ted Colvin at a protest. Looking to stay a step ahead, Michaela and Jared use Drea’s help to track Sam’s financial records. Drea sneaks into Ted Colvin’s office and finds two wads of cash and Sam’s ring. Colvin chases her to the roof, and a confrontation leads to Jared arresting him. Michaela undergoes testing when she has a Calling in front of a Registry agent.
Cal fears the Lifeboat can’t be saved, but Olive pokes a hole in Saanvi’s hypothesis that Callings could be memories. She realizes that Eden, who didn’t spend time in the glow and thus doesn’t have any memories, still gets Callings. There must be another way to retrieve information from the Divine Consciousness. Olive leaves TJ a message for an assist on her latest discovery on sapphire and her theory that the gemstone could be used to obtain limitless Callings and save the Lifeboat. She also tells him that she misses him.
Biggest Revelations:
- Jared offers to take the shell casings to ballistics at the Registry, knowing that the bullets were fired from his gun and could be traced back to him. He’s confident they won’t be, but he’s unfortunately asked to hand over his gun. Vance helps swap the ballistics reports.
- Ben struggles to connect with Eden after she draws him with a beard and calls him a “bad man.” Olive helps him shave the grief beard. Anna Ross visits Eden to help her come around to Ben easier. Later, Anna Ross is killed in her home.
- Adrian confronts Eagan after his release from prison about ratting him out. They seem to plot a potential reward grab for Angelina, and Eagan makes a trip to Angelina’s home and shakes her mother down for a gold watch and a ride.
- Zeke goes back to work right after the shooting, and when he takes on a patient’s anger, he lashes out at the patient in a fit of rage. He’s promptly fired for the incident and he relapses as a result.
