The Crown is a very popular Netflix series that is watched by many. But it has also had those against it over the years. Some feel the show is not an accurate representation of true historical events.

Most viewers will realize that certain plot lines are dramatized or made up for the show, but at the same time there are those who take it as fact. That’s why most recently and ahead of The Crown season 5, Netflix is receiving backlash. Especially after the streaming service released the trailer.

An iconic actress has asked the company to add a historical accuracy disclaimer. Over the years, Netflix has never done so. But now, they’ve changed their tune.

If you take a look at the description box on The Crown season 5 trailer’s YouTube page, you’ll see that some new text has now appeared following the backlash the series and streamer has received recently.

The description reads:

"Inspired by real events, this fictional dramatisation tells the story of Queen Elizabeth II and the political and personal events that shaped her reign."

The change comes amid comments against the series from Dame Judi Dench who wrote an open letter to The Times, which is a UK publication. Known as one of Britain’s best actresses, the talent said though the show is “brilliant,” she believes it presents an “inaccurate and hurtful account of history,” according to the letter. She asked Netflix to add a disclaimer describing the show as a “ficitonalised drama,” and the company has listened.

Former UK Prime Minister John Major also expressed his complaints, specifically about one part in the premiere episode of the fifth season. The plot line suggests that in 1991, Prince Charles spoke to the politician and complained about having to wait to take the throne, expressing the idea of Queen Elizabeth abdicating the throne, according to Deadline.

The Crown season 5 debuts Nov. 9 on Netflix.
