Unsolved Mysteries season 3 episode 5 recap: “Paranormal Rangers”

The latest batch of episodes in Unsolved Mysteries volume 3 includes another paranormal story, this time exploring multiple mystical creatures who were reported to be seen in the Navajo Nation. “Paranormal Rangers” tells the story of Jonathan Redbird Dover and Stanley Milford Jr., two now-returned rangers who were assigned to investigate the reports in 2000. The episode features interviews with the two men, along with others involved in the cases.

Navajo folklore features a long list of spooky creatures, including but not limited to the wendigo, the Uktena, and skinwalkers. In this episode of Unsolved Mysteries, we learn about the accounts of people who say they’ve witnessed skinwalkers, along with Bigfoot, UFOs, and orbs — all in the same area.

The rangers looked into a report coming from a woman named Brenda Harris, who has a chilling story about multiple Bigfoot sightings. In the episode, she recalls a night when she was at home with her kids and heard something heavy arrive at her doorstep. That something then tried to open the front door, wiggling the doorknob until she got up to check what it was. When she opened it, she was absolutely shocked to see a creature standing taller than any human, with hair covering its entire body. She knew from that moment it had to be Bigfoot and says the same thing continued to happen for multiple nights.

Brenda attempted to catch the creature on camera and actually did get something — though it’s difficult to make out what exactly it is.

In another paranormal account, a woman who chose to remain anonymous recalls driving down the highway and being followed by an orb. You can tell how frightening that night was for her as she tells the creepy story. Apparently, she woke up the next morning with a migraine, the first one she ever had in her life, with speculation being the orb did something to her.

Another story is actually from Stanley’s viewpoint, as he remembers encountering a skinwalker when he was a young adult. He tells the story of one night when he was going to the movies, and on his drive, an animal started chasing after his car. No matter how hard he hit the gas pedal, this creature continued to keep up with him.

Stanley describes the creature as looking like a greyhound that was all white, having a canine-like head, a full mouth of teeth, and a long snout. Sounds just like a dog or coyote, right? Well, one other detail will change that. According to the former ranger, this thing had glowing, “fiery orange” eyes. He felt like it could see right through him. Fortunately, he sped home and was able to get inside unharmed. He was later told that this incident must’ve been connected to someone trying to hurt him and his family.

The stories we hear from Navajo Nation in this episode are certainly unsettling, and unfortunately, we have no concrete answers to explain them.
