After months of talks, Netflix will finally roll out its new ad-supported subscription service soon, and just maybe you might want to switch over from your current plan to see if it’s the better option for you. If you’re interested in the Netflix ad tier and need more information about it, you’ve arrived at the right place. We shared everything there is to know about Netflix’s upcoming basic with ads plan down below.

Currently, there are three subscription plans: Basic, Standard, and Premium. Each plan provides an unlimited selection of great TV shows, movies, and games, a personalized ad-free viewing experience, the ability to watch movies and TV shows on your device of choice, the ability to download movies and shows, and the option to change or cancel your plan at any time. However, there are also some differences between the plans, especially each plan’s monthly cost.

With the introduction of the Netflix ad tier, it will offer most features of the basic plan with a few differences. So, when does the new subscription tier launch? How much does it cost? Read on to find out more!

When does the Netflix ad tier launch?

The Netflix ad tier is set to launch in the U.S. on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. PT/12:00 p.m. ET. It will also be available in 11 other countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, and the U.K.

The plan will launch on Nov. 1 in Canada and Mexico. If you live in Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, the United Kingdom, or the United States, you can expect the plan to launch on Nov. 3. Lastly, if you live in Spain, you can expect the plan to launch on Nov. 10.

How much does the Netflix ad tier cost?

The ad-supported subscription service will cost $6.99 a month. With this plan, you can enjoy Netflix in HD video quality (up to 720p) on one supported device at a time. However, some movies and TV shows will not be available due to licensing restrictions, which Netflix said they’re currently working on to get fixed. The option to download movies and TV shows for offline viewing will also be unavailable, but you will have access to unlimited mobile games without any ads.

Unlike Netflix’s other monthly subscription plans, the Netflix ad tier will consist of ads shown before and during most TV shows and movies. According to Netflix, there will be an average of four to five minutes of ads per hour, and each ad will be 15 or 30 seconds in length.
