The miniseries takes us into the life of Dean and Nora Brannock, who have just bought their dream home in the idyllic suburb of Westfield, New Jersey. They soon realize their neighborhood is less than welcoming – from a kooky older woman named Pearl and her brother Jasper who sneaks into the Brannock’s house and hides in their dumbwaiter to Karen the realtor and an old acquaintance of Nora’s who makes them feel like they don’t really belong, to nosy neighbors Mitch and Mo who don’t seem to understand property lines.

But what really makes their lives a living hell are the ominous letters from someone calling themself “The Watcher.” The person terrorizing the Brannocks to their breaking point as the neighborhood’s sinister secrets come spilling out.

The show is based on the true story of the infamous “Watcher” house in New Jersey. Is that where the Netflix crew set up production?

The series has the address as 657 Boulevard in Hempstead, New York. But the true location of the home is 657 Boulevard in Westfield, New Jersey, according to Zillow. The home is currently off the market.

So even though the real home obviously still exists in New Jersey, the Netflix series mostly filmed the show in a suburb of New York, Rye, in Westchester County, Women’s Health reports. To this day, the real “Watcher” has not been caught.

The show stars Naomi Watts, Bobby Cannavale, Jennifer Coolidge, Mia Farrow, Margo Martindale, Terry Kinney, Joe Mantello, Richard Kind, Noma Dumezweni, Christopher McDonald, Michael Nouri, Isabel Gravitt, Henry Hunter Hall, and Luke David Blumm.
