1899 release date

From the creators of Dark on Netflix, 1899 is an upcoming mystery-horror show set out at sea. The intriguing series features an ensemble cast, following a group of characters leaving Europe for America. What’s meant to be a hopeful journey to their new lives on the ship Kerberos is quickly turned upside down when they encounter sinister happenings.

Included in the cast are Elite star Miguel Bernardeau and Dark‘s Andreas Pietschmann, along with Emily Beecham (Hail Ceasar!), Aneurin Barnard (Peaky Blinders), Maciej Musiał (The Witcher), Anton Lesser (The Crown), and more.

1899 is a German production, but as it follows European characters from all different locations, the series will be multilingual. Languages that we’ll hear include Spanish, French, English, and German.

Part of what makes this show so exciting is because of the technology the creators are using to bring the story to life. 1899 will use something called “The Volume” instead of green screens, which is essentially a bunch of big LED panels. Disney has used this tech for shows like The Mandalorian. We’re super excited to see how Netflix uses it!

1899 premieres on Netflix on Nov. 17, 2022.
