It’s finally autumn and we can’t wait to dive into some cozy fall movies on Netflix! There are tons of charming romantic films and fun comedies available on the streaming service, many of which are actually set in the fall or at least have distinct fall vibes.

Those hoping to plan a movie marathon consisting of nothing but fall movies on Netflix are in luck because the following list outlines 12 films available on the platform right now. We’ve provided a mix of Netflix originals and other movies.

You’ll probably want to prioritize movies that aren’t Netflix originals since they could leave at any time, although none of them are listed as leaving at the moment so you should at least have the rest of September and October to watch.

Let us know what your favorite fall movies on Netflix are, too!

Cozy fall movies on Netflix right now

When Harry Met Sally (1989)

When Harry Met Sally is not only the quintessential romantic comedy, it’s also the perfect movie to celebrate the onset of autumn. The color scheme alone makes this film ideal for fall and then you get scenes like Sally and Harry strolling through Central Park with the leaves flying and changing color. The second I see leaves falling the first thing I do is curl up in a flannel blanket and watch this classic.

Senior Year (2022)

Rebel Wilson leads the cast of this hilarious comedy about a high-school cheerleader who wakes up after being in a coma for 20 years. Watching Senior Year reminded me of the teen comedies I loved so much growing up in the early aughts. Plus, anything set in a school setting makes me think of fall, ’tis the season for academia after all.

August: Osage County (2013)

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play of the same name, August: Osage County is an adaptation boasting an all-star cast that includes Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Ewan McGregor, Margo Martindale, Benedict Cumberbatch, Juliette Lewis, Julianne Nicholson, and many other A-list actors.

Even though this movie is a little more somber than some of the others on this list (it’s a tragicomedy) it still evokes the feeling of fall thanks to its color scheme and storyline. It’s not actually set on Thanksgiving but the family gathering sure feels similar and holiday movies are often about dysfunctional families so this film blends right in.

The Half of It (2020)

The Half of It is another super sweet romantic comedy with a queer twist that makes it stand out from other rom-coms. Leah Lewis stars as the shy, straight-A student Ellie Chu. Ellie agrees to write love letters on behalf of one of her peers, Paul Munsky, for his crush, who they secretly both have feelings for. Again, a rom-com in a school setting is the perfect vibe for a fall movie.

Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011)

It’s the movie that gave us our first of several iconic Ryan Gosling x Emma Stone collaborations! Crazy, Stupid, Love is a super endearing romantic comedy film that is considered a modern classic to many. Steve Carrell and Julianne Moore star as Cal and Emily Weaver.

Their seemingly perfect life comes undone when Emily reveals she had an affair and wants a divorce. Suddenly single again, Cal finds himself struggling to make connections until he meets a charismatic player named Jacob (Gosling).

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (2018)

A historical romantic drama, this heartfelt film based on the novel of the same name is a beautiful tale of friendship amid hardship filled with quirky characters, great performances, and an endearing quality that makes it a treat to watch. It’s definitely a cozy movie perfect for the chilly weather.

The story follows Juliet Ashton (Lily James) as she writes letters to The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. She and her correspondents share stories of what life is like on the Nazi-occupied island of Guernsey and Juliet becomes inspired to write a book, leading her to visit the island for herself and forge lifelong friendships along the way.

The Nice Guys (2016)

Another hilarious Ryan Gosling movie is The Nice Guys and it’s ideal for those looking for something fun and cozy, but maybe a little darker. This neo-noir buddy comedy stars Gosling as a down-on-his-luck private eye that teams up with a hired enforcer (Russell Crowe) to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a young woman.

The Lake House (2006)

Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves star in this fantasy romance film about a strange lake house that allows the current resident to communicate with the former with letters. As the two send letters back and forth and begin falling in love, they have to unravel the mystery of the house before it’s too late and their romantic dalliance is lost forever.

The Age of Adaline (2015)

Another romantic fantasy, Age of Adaline stars Blake Lively as a woman who is stuck at the age of 29 forever. Whenever she fears someone might figure out her secret, she moves away and starts her life over. But when she meets a charismatic man named Ellis (Michael Huisman), Adaline finds her passion for life reawakened and must make a choice that could change everything.

Do Revenge (2022)

A recent release, Do Revenge is basically a love letter to the teen comedies of the 1990s and early 2000s. If you loved movies like Mean Girls, Heathers, and Cruel Intentions then this film is a must-watch. Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke star as two friends that agree to get revenge on each other’s respective enemies.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (2018)

If you’re looking for fall movies on Netflix, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is a great choice. The color scheme is perfect for autumn and it’s set during the school season, making it feel like a classic fall film. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Jenny Han and it’s the first in a trilogy that stars Lana Condor and Noah Centineo.

A Perfect Pairing (2022)

Victoria Justice is a hard-working LA executive that travels all the way to Australia to try and net a major client for the wine company where she works. To win over the client, she goes to work on a sheep farm and finds herself falling for one of the rugged farmhands (Adam Demos). The overall setting and color scheme make this one of many perfect fall movies on Netflix.
