Jeffrey Dahmer is considered one of America’s most infamous serial killers. Between the years 1978 and 1991, Dahmer committed multiple murders and dismemberment of young men and boys. This is what Netflix’s Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is about. It chronicles the life and heinous crimes Dahmer committed for over a decade while going unnoticed by the police.
Dahmer met many of his victims at a gay bar called Club 219. There, he would converse, dance, and then persuade men to come back to his apartment to take pictures, hang out, and drink beers. But it’s at Dahmer’s apartment where many of his murders took place.
In Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, the apartment building where Dahmer lived and lured his victims to was called the Oxford Apartments. After watching the limited series, you might be wondering if the Oxford Apartments is a real place. Fortunately, we know the answer and shared it below!
Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story: Is the Oxford Apartments a real place?
The Oxford Apartments was a real apartment complex located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It wasn’t made up by the writers for the show. Like in the Netflix series, Dahmer really did live in the Oxford Apartments and stayed in Apartment No. 213. He would bring his victims there then drug, strangle, dismember, and perform sexual acts on their bodies.
After Dahmer was captured and arrested in 1991, a year later in November 1992, the Oxford Apartments were torn down. It has been an empty lot surrounded by a fence overgrown with grass ever since. There were plans to turn the area into something else like a memorial or playground, but they fell through.
Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story starring Evan Peters is streaming now only on Netflix.
