Spoilers ahead from Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

In the first episode of the show, Jeffrey Dahmer walks into Club 219 and meets three men. After a casual conversation, Dahmer asks the men if they’d like to come back to his apartment to pose for nude photographs in exchange for money. Two of the men decline his offer, but the other guy (Tracy Edwards) accepts his offer. If you followed Dahmer’s case, you’d quickly realize who Tracy Edwards is. He’s a surviving victim of Dahmer, who helped put an end to his murderous spree.

After episode 1, the show goes back in time to when Dahmer committed his first murder and then the many other murders he committed until his capture and arrest in 1991.

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story: Is Club 219 a real place?

Yes, Club 219 was a gay bar that Dahmer frequently visited to pick up guys and lure them back to his apartment where he would kill them. According to Wisconsin LGBT History Project, Club 219 opened its doors in February 1981. It was located in Downtown Milwaukee and was considered the best bar to be at on New Year’s Eve. It was popular for its drag show performances and male strippers and dancers.

However, the bar’s popularity started to decline when more bars and new businesses began to open in the area, which limited parking. Also, it didn’t help that Club 219 was eventually revealed to the public as the bar that Dahmer often visited. As a result, fewer people began to visit the bar, which led to it being shut down in October 2005. However, it’s unknown what the building is being used for today.
