On Sept. 8, Netflix will drop a new science fiction series, The Imperfects. It’s the perfect show to binge-watch in one sitting with a group of friends on a lazy weekend. Of course, if you’re curious to know what The Imperfects is all about, all you have to do is continue reading.

The Imperfects is a Canadian original series created and executive produced by Dennis Heaton and Shelley Eriksen. Chad Oakes and Michael Frislev also signed on to executive produce the series. Heaton is best known for creating the Netflix show The Order. In addition, Eriksen previously worked with Heaton as a writer and producer on The Order.

Nomadic Pictures produced the series. You might recognize Nomadic Pictures as the production company behind the Netflix series The I-LandWu Assassins and The Order. The company also produced the fantasy series Van Helsing.

The cast consists of mostly newcomers to the entertainment industry and a couple of familiar faces such as Italia Ricci, Morgan Taylor Campbell, Rhianna Jagpal, Iñaki Godoy, Rhys Nicholson, Celina Martin, and Kyra Zagorsky.

What is The Imperfects about?

The sci-fi series follows three young adults (Abbi, Juan, and Tilda) who are turned into monsters after undergoing unethical experimental gene therapy by a mad scientist. Joined by Dr. Sydney Burke, the trio decides to band together to hunt and take down the scientist responsible for their transformation and force him to make them human again.

It is rated TV-MA, meaning it’s meant to be watched by mature audiences only. It may not be appropriate for audiences ages 17 and under. It was given a TV-MA age rating for strong language, graphic violence, blood, and suicide. There will also be plenty of intense, frightening scenes with scary-looking creatures. Overall, we wouldn’t recommend watching this show with kids around.
