Who else can’t wait for Virgin River season 5?! We know fans are looking forward to the next installment after season 4 premiered to huge success in July 2022. Luckily, the fifth season of the hit Netflix original romantic drama series is already in the works.
After Virgin River season 3 premiered to the show’s biggest numbers to-date in July 2021, Netflix renewed the fan-favorite guilty pleasure for two more seasons, ensuring we would be back in Virgin River for more small-town drama until at least season 5 (but don’t worry, the show isn’t going anywhere).
Virgin River season 4 brought so many game-changing events, such as Mel and Jack’s engagement (for real this time!), the reveal of who shot Jack back in season 2, and paternity truths galore that will have you searching for the next episode.
Unfortunately, we still have some waiting to do before more new episodes hit our watch lists. As much as we would like a new season right away, Virgin River season 5 won’t be one of the new Netflix shows and movies coming in September 2022. However, here are the latest episodes on the upcoming season!
Virgin River season 5 updates
As of July 2022, the cast and crew are hard at work filming the 12 episodes of Virgin River season 5! The cast announced the exciting news with a photo of their virtual table read on July 18. Production will continue through mid-November, and post-production will commence and last up to six months. Being so, we should expect another July release in 2023.
Of course, there’s also the possibility that season 5 could release sooner than July. Filming for season 4 ended in December 2021, and the season premiered in July. Since season 5 is currently on track to wrap production before the holiday season begins, perhaps we could see a release earlier in summer 2023 than usual. We’ll have to wait and see!
Virgin River season 5 will certainly be worth the wait. The new showrunner, Patrick Sean Smith, has already teased that there won’t be a time jump in the story, and the forthcoming season will also look to incorporate more diversity and inclusion in the characters.
Alexandra Breckenridge, who plays Mel in the series, hinted to NewBeauty that is working on season 5 episodes that are “pretty heavy” and “some of the best episodes ever done.” To say the hype is real would be an understatement. Get here faster, season 5!
