New Netflix movies and shows: September 1, 2022

September is here, and besides the start of pumpkin spice lattes, sweater weather, and leaves falling, the beginning of the month also means Netflix is adding a whole bunch of new movies and shows to their lineup. Thursday, Sept. 1 brings a franchise or two and a whole lot of romance movies (both new and old).

The two franchises coming to Netflix include Austin Powers and Resident Evil. Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, and Austin Powers in Goldmember will all be on the streaming service starting on Sept 1.

Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, and Resident Evil: Retribution will also be available on Sept 1. It is interesting that Netflix is adding a bunch of Resident Evil movies when they just canceled the series, but if you’re looking to binge-watch the franchise after watching the show, now’s the time! It’s not the entire film series, but at least you can watch a few.

There are also a ton of romance movies coming to Netflix on Sept 1., including older movies like A Cinderella Story, Clueless, He’s Just Not That Into You, The Bridges of Madison County, Save The Last Dance, and The Notebook, but it also includes Netflix’s latest rom-com, Love in the Villa.

The new rom-com stars Tom Hopper and Kat Graham as a pair of single people who have to share the same villa in Verona, Italy. Graham’s character is there because she booked the villa for her and her boyfriend, but he dumped her before the trip. On the other hand, Hopper’s character is not the biggest proponent of love. They are quite the pair. At first, they pretty much despise each other, but as they spend more time together, the spark of something starts to form.
