The Umbrella Academy season 4 release: When could the final season arrive on Netflix?

The Umbrella Academy season 4 is officially happening at Netflix! On Aug. 25, Netflix announced that the superhero series would be returning for a fourth season. But unfortunately, the fourth season will be the final season.

We’re not necessarily surprised that The Umbrella Academy season 4 will be the last season because four seasons seems to be the typical amount of seasons the streamer hands out to its shows. Also, after watching all three seasons, a fourth season should be able to wrap everything up nicely for our favorite group of superheroes.

The season 3 finale ended on a shocking note and left viewers wondering what could happen next in the fourth season. Fortunately, series creator Steve Blackman spoke with The Wrap in July and said he has a good idea of what he wants to do for The Umbrella Academy season 4. So, it looks like the writing process might’ve already started or could be starting soon now that the show has been renewed.

It’s unclear how long pre-production will last, but there’s a possibility cameras could start rolling by the of the year. If not, production should start at the beginning of 2023. So what does this mean for The Umbrella Academy season 4 release date? Obviously, we don’t have an official release date yet since it’s still too early in the filmmaking process. However, we can still share our release date predictions.

When could The Umbrella Academy season 4 arrive on Netflix?

After looking at previous seasons’ production and post-production schedules, we’re most likely looking at about five to six months of production and about seven to ten months of post-production before the fourth season arrives on Netflix.

The earliest we could possibly see the fourth season would be late 2023. However, we’re likely looking at a 2024 release. In order to possibly make a 2023 release, production would have to start by the end of 2022 and post-production could only take seven or fewer months.

Once production starts on The Umbrella Academy season 4, we should have a better idea of when it could come to Netflix. But, for now, expect the fourth and final season to make its way to the streamer sometime in 2024.
