What is romantic comedy Wedding Season on Netflix about?

If you’re a fan of romantic comedies, then you’ll be happy to know a new one is headed to Netflix in just a couple of days! Wedding Season premieres Thursday, Aug. 4.

The movie is written by Shiwani Srivastava and directed by Tom Dey. It stars co-leads Pallavi Sharda as Asha and Suraj Sharma as Ravi.

Also rounding out the cast are Arianna Afsar as Priya, Ruth Goodwin as Tina, Veena Sood as Suneeta, Sean Kleier as Nick, Damian Thompson as James, Julius Cho as Yoshi, Manoj Sood as Dinesh, and Sonia Dhillon Tully as Veena.

What is Wedding Season on Netflix about?

After breaking off her engagement, leaving a successful banking career behind in the city, and moving to New Jersey for a fresh start, Asha (Pallavi Sharda) feels like she’s living her best life. But her mother wouldn’t agree. She thinks her daughter needs to find a husband instead of focusing all her attention on her startup job. And so, Asha’s mother creates an online dating profile to set her up with a “perfect” match.

Ravi’s (Suraj Sharma) parents have the exact same idea for their son. The two go on a reluctant first date that doesn’t go too well. But when Asha realizes her mom won’t give up, she comes up with a plan with Ravi that will benefit them both: pretend to be in a relationship through the upcoming summer wedding season. In the next three months, the two will find they have more in common than they thought, and maybe their parents were onto something after all. Any fan of a good rom-com knows where this fake dating trope will lead!
