Is Wedding Season based on a book?

Surprisingly, the romantic comedy is not based on a book. Instead, it’s original work from a talented screenwriter by the name of Shiwani Srivastava. In fact, Wedding Season marks Srivastava’s debut as a film writer. Producers for the rom-com (Ryan M. Murphy and John Rhodes) discovered Srivastava through the talent discovery platform Coverfly and brought her screenplay to Netflix. Then, Netflix gave it the go-ahead and reached out to Shetty. Once everything was settled, the movie was ordered in early 2020.
