Neil Patrick Harris stars in the new Netflix original comedy series Uncoupled as Michael, a realtor whose boyfriend leaves him without warning 17 years into their committed relationship. He must now dive back into the New York City dating scene for the first time in nearly two decades.

The series comes from creators Darren Star and Jeffrey Richman, the former of which has created some of the best romantic comedy series around, such as Sex and the City, Younger, and Emily in Paris. Thankfully, Uncoupled fits right in with those iconic shows.

Throughout the first season of Uncoupled, Michael attempts to get back out there and get over his boyfriend who dumped him. He experiences a whirlwind of dating app hook ups, meet cutes, and almost relationships that range from promising to super cringey. But which of these men is best suited for Michael?

Ranking Michael’s boyfriends in Uncoupled

From his ex-boyfriend Colin to his embarrassing encounter on the slopes with a former crush, we’re ranking all of Michael’s boyfriends and bad dates from Uncoupled. Let’s start off with perhaps the worst of them all and make our way to the best match for Michael so far.

Worst: Josh

Michael’s dad sets him up with a dermatologist named Josh (Peter Porte) in episode 5, and although things begin very promising as they take things slow, their brief courtship soon goes south. When they decide to hook up, Michael notices that Josh is very well-endowed, which frightens him. Josh suggests using Botox in a sensitive area, and Michael leaves before anything happens. Even though he had potential, we’d say this was Michael’s worst date.

Corey

In episode 7, Michael and his friends attend a ski trip getaway, where Michael runs into Corey (David A. Gregory), an attractive man he once met at a realtor’s conference. Determined to rekindle the spark now that he’s single, Michael goes out of his way to speak with and impress Corey. His efforts land him rolling down the snowy slopes. Corey watches and doesn’t help him at all! For that alone, Corey ranks as one of Michael’s least likely matches.

Luke

Michael gets much more than he bargained for in episode 6 when he attends Billy’s GLSN roller disco event and literally runs into Luke (Dan Amboyer). The elementary school teacher also recently left a long-term relationship, and the pair swap stories on their first date. Their relationship hits fast forward by the fifth day, when Michael realizes he’s falling into comfortable old patters. Although Luke craved stability to a clingy extent, he wasn’t all bad and falls right in the middle.

Colin

We’re tempted to put Colin (Tuc Watkins) as the worst because he left Michael without providing explanation as to why their 17-year relationship was ending. Like Michael in the beginning of the season, we’re not quite ready to forgive Colin. But we’re willing to admit that he and Michael were great together at one point and are well-suited for each other. Still, that doesn’t mean we’re Team Colin and think the couple should get back together as the cliffhanger suggests.

Best: Paolo

In episode 3, Michael receives a quick how-to on hook-up apps, but he doesn’t think it’s quite his thing until he meets a new real estate client, Italian businessman Paolo Forella (Gilles Marini). While swiping through photos of listings, Paolo accidentally sees a picture of Michael’s penis, which quickly heats things up for “ItalianBiBusinessman” and “NewHotMike.” Even though it was just a hook up, Paolo was easily the best man Michael encountered in Uncoupled.
