KJ Apa is turning heads on Instagram after debuting a jaw-dropping new hairstyle that has fans wondering what could be ahead for Archie in Riverdale season 7.

While a lot has changed on Riverdale over the years — understatement of the year, I know — one thing that has remained constant is Archie Andrews’ signature red hairstyle. Every season as filming begins on the series, Apa has been known to dye his hair to match Archie’s iconic red locks from the pages of Archie Comics.

During the offseason, fans are used to seeing Apa rock his natural darker hair color and allow his hair to grow out a bit while on break. In fact, they almost expect it at this point which is why fans jaws hit the floor when Apa took to Instagram to debut his newest look, one that has Riverdale fans wondering what could be in store for Archie in season 7.

If you were to be scrolling through your Instagram app and did a doubletake when KJ Apa’s latest post came up in your feed, you’re likely not alone. The 25-year-old Riverdale star recently took to Instagram to debut a jaw-dropping new look for the offseason.

“Reset. One Fast Move,” the actor wrote of his newest photo in which he’s rocking a new buzz cut and some stubble that has fans both swooning and shocked at how unrecognizable Apa looks.

As the caption hints, the new look seems to be connected to Apa’s newest project, Gulfstream Pictures’ high-octane racing adventure One Fast Move which began production this summer and will see Apa starting as a dishonorably discharged soldier pursuing his dream of racing Supersport motorcycles.

Has Riverdale season 7 started filming?

It’s going to be interesting to see if KJ Apa grows his hair back out in time for Riverdale season 7 or if we could be seeing Archie rocking a much different look in the final season of the series However, it’s looking likely that he will as filming has not yet begun on the show’s seventh season thus far.

Although Apa’s latest look is by far his biggest departure from Archie’s signature look, it’s not uncommon for Apa to shake things up during the offseason. And with no filming date set for the final season of Riverdale just yet, we have a feeling he’ll have plenty of time to let his hair grow back out in time to rock Archie’s signature look by the time the cameras begin rolling on the show’s farewell season.
